Differences between 1-Line and 2-Line CapTel:

  • 1-Line CapTel:
    – Captions and voice are provided across one telephone line.  
    – The other party must dial the captioning service first (877-243-2823), then enter your number, in order to receive captions of their call.
    – Requires one standard (analog) telephone line.

  • 2-Line CapTel:
    – Conversation is carried on one line, captions are provided on a second telephone line. 
    – Incoming calls are automatically captioned.
    – The other party simply dial your phone number directly. 
    – Requires two standard (analog) telephone lines.
